As part of the Kainga Ora Northcote Development, Kainga Ora are replacing 300 existing state houses and delivering more than 1,500 warm, dry, quiet houses in their place.
Part of this development is to provide improved community amenities, in this case a new pocket park for the younger children to play in and for families to come together in. This park included a new shelter, BBQ facilities, mini-trampolines, a swing, balance balls and a lovely space for kids to run around and kick a ball on.
Mana-Whenua were also intimately involved and Maori carvings were included within the design on fence posts, shelter posts and etched into the concrete.
Piritahi (Kainga Ora’s Alliance Delivery Partner) were the design-builders of the project and TOBA Projects provided Client-side Project Management and Infrastructure Management services to Kainga Ora from the outset through to successful completion. This included design, Alliance TOC (Target Outturn Cost) development, Resource Consent and EPA lodgement, construction and closeout phases.
The project was delivered to an exceptionally high standard by Piritahi and came in on budget. It was a fun project all around, for all the “big-kids” within all of us.
