The role


This role is for a Project Manager in the Basebuild and Fitout team delivering exciting vertical projects for our key clients. We are independent consultant project managers for our clients.

Projects are in the following sectors:

  • Residential – apartments, townhouses, subdivisions;

  • Commercial – retail shopping centres, strip retail, fitouts;

  • Healthcare;

  • Industrial; and

  • Sports facilities.


Projects range from $500,000 up to $50m and involve the following:

  • Large basebuild construction projects on either greenfields or brownfields sites. Involves base build structure as well as civil enabling works and utility services relocations.

  • Building fitout projects either on a single floor, staged works over multiple floors or over all floors in an entire building including external modifications and civil landscaping works.

  • Building refurbishment projects.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for a Senior level project manager with a proven track record in leading the delivery of construction projects up to at least $20 million as a Project Manager.

You will have 6+ years’ project management experience and will be able to autonomously lead the delivery of complex large scale base build and fitout projects.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in property/construction/ engineering/Architecture or an experienced technician/trade background who is working in a project management capacity;

  • Great communication skills and confidence to be client facing;

  • Have excellent written skills;

  • A track record of delivering similar projects – large and small; and

  • The willingness to be part of a growing team and contribute to the growth of our business.



  • Candidate must be legally entitled to work in NZ; and

  • Have a valid NZ drivers licence.


You must be able to:

  • Take ownership of, and lead, complex large scale base build, fitout and refurbishment projects; 

  • Deliver projects autonomously and also lead and train internal team members (such as assistant or junior/intermediate PMs);

  • Accept responsibility of, and lead the delivery of all phases of Project Delivery, from initiation through to closeout. An understanding of the PMI/Prince2 (or similar) Project Delivery approach is a requirement;

  • Confidently manage and build relationships with all stakeholders such as the client, consultants, contractors, suppliers and partners;

  • Assemble and manage design teams;

  • Build detailed programmes and offer strategic programming advice to clients;

  • Manage budgets;

  • Manage the building consent process;

  • Provide strategic procurement advice to the client (design/build vs P&G and margin and ECI vs design-bid-build);

  • Manage the tender process and construction activities;

  • Administer construction contracts. Knowledge of NZS3910 or NZS3916 or similar construction contracts are mandatory;

  • Produce high-quality project reports and written correspondence;

  • Attend and potentially chair client PCG meetings; and

  • Travel periodically for project assignments.

  • Office location: 27 Gillies Ave, Newmarket Auckland.

  • We are open to contract, part-time or permanent roles.

  • We are focussed on in-house training and development of our staff and actively provide on the job training to help upskill our team. As a senior member of the team, you will also be required to mentor and train junior project managers in the office.
