Phil has 14 years’ experience helping companies plan and deliver complex electricity projects, secure network connections, and strengthen their long‑term energy positions.
He blends project delivery, commercial acumen, and deep knowledge of New Zealand’s electricity markets so technical designs, contract structures, and procurement decisions all work together in a coherent strategy.
A core focus of Phil’s work is large connections and critical power infrastructure for organisations with high reliability requirements, such as major data centres and hospitals.
His experience includes:
Leading new GXP and Zone Substation connections for data centres
Delivering complex network upgrades across live healthcare environments
Coordinating interfaces between distribution and transmission networks
Managing projects from early options and business cases through design, procurement, construction, and commissioning
Acting as ETC / IC under 3910 for complex electrical projects
Phil also leads greenfield solar plus battery (BESS) project development within New Zealand, covering:
Site prospecting and grid connection strategy
Commercial structuring and financial planning
Engagement with landowners, councils, iwi, and technical consultants
Site divestment strategy and market engagement
Alongside his project and development work, Phil supports clients with power purchase agreements (PPAs) and broader energy procurement. He helps organisations:

Link procurement and PPA decisions to connection and project strategies
Manage price and volume risk while improving long‑term cost predictability
